Art Nouveau (1890-1914) and Modernism (1914-1970) are movements in Art and
architecture that didn’t have a chance to develop in Cyprus.
At that time period, Cyprus was
a Colony of England (1878- 1960) and in the area of architecture co-exist the colonial rhythm
of England that we meet in most governmental buildings, and folk architecture, that we meet
mostly in the Cypriot houses, especially the ones in the country side.
