The principles of training
There are different ways in which we can improve cardiovascular fitness, and there are certain principles of
training which need to be understood.

Specificity
This means that if you wish to develop a certain aspect of training, say cardiovascular fitness, then you
emphasize that aspect in your program.
For example, if the sport for which you are training is squash, your
training would be quite different from someone who is training for the London Marathon

Specific Training
The need for specific training within a sport can be seen very easily in activities such as rugby where the backs
and the forwards need different training/fitness.
Similarly, in football and hockey, the goalkeepers need
different training/fitness from the outfield players.
In fact, professional clubs actually have different
