This November 25, was marked as the International Day for Elimination of Violence Against
Women. Despite worldwide efforts and international determination, rights of millions of
women remain to be violated, including such crimes as child and forced marriages, female
genital mutilation and cutting, as well as son preference that manifests discrimination towards girls, including gender-biased prenatal sex selection. But joint forces and good will
gives hope that status quo will gradually change. In fact, more men are speaking up in support of the female victims and calling to play a role in ending the violence worldwide.
