The cathedral’s corner stone was consecrated, on
the 23rd
day of the month of October, in the holly
year of 1994, by the Great Archbishop of Suceava
and Radauti , together with an impressive group
of priests.
The joy of finishing the construction
works for the cathedral called “Virgin Mary’s
Birth, from the town of Gura Humorului was
celebrated on Sunday, the 21st
of August 2011
when the Patriach of the Romania Orthodox
Church, together with an important group of priests and hierarchs, officiated the consecration
sermon.
The spiritual edifice has a length of 45 meters, a width of 24,6 meters and a height of
50 meters.
Its foundation has an octagonal shape , marked by 4 apses, 2 galleries, the Holly Altar has an
impressive table of oblation and a diaconicon, while upstairs , it has balconies, an open tower,
small offices, the bell towers with an open tower, two small offices, the bell towers with an open
porch an towers with an open porch and two lateral candle chambers .
