Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Project was not set up to help adapt to or mitigate climate change, but the evidence indicates that it has helped poor, vulnerable communities adapt and build resilience to the effects of climate change. Its holistic approach is a key factor in this. MPRLP has acted as a facilitator for a large number of community-led initiatives, in which microplanning is an essential tool.
MPRLP works to eliminate rural poverty by empowering rural households in nine mainly tribal districts of the state. MPRLP takes a bottom-up approach, facilitating, inspiring and guiding community-driven collective and individual action to reduce poverty through Gram Sabhas (village councils).
