In India, small labour-intensive enterprises rank second (after agriculture) in providing employment. MPRLP is therefore working with Gram Sabhas (village councils) to encourage microenterprises, which diversify rural economies, make use of local skills, create significant employment and improve the income of the poor, especially women.
MPRLP works to eliminate rural poverty by empowering rural households in nine mainly tribal districts of the state. MPRLP takes a bottom-up approach, facilitating, inspiring and guiding community-driven collective and individual action to reduce poverty through Gram Sabhas (village councils).
