Sydney’s rainbow crossing briefly came
back to life on Saturday as thousands
of protesters marched from Town Hall to
Taylor Square to show support for gay
marriage.
Marchers remade the shortlived pedestrian crossing with chalk over
a blocked-off Oxford St ahead of a vote
in Parliament that could legalise samesex marriage next week.

Deadline for gay marriage vote

Gay rights advocates and politicians are
gearing up to push a same-sex marriage bill
with a slim chance of success to the floor of
Parliament next week.
As the Star Observer went to press,
federal Parliament’s Selection Committee
was debating when to bring the bill to the
floor.
While advocates are hoping for a
vote on Thursday, June 6, the bill may not
be voted
